Dunas Douradas is small — a few dozen lanes between the Ria Formosa dunes and the Almancil road — and that is its charm. Mornings start with a walk on the beach or a swim at the beach club; the boardwalk through the dunes links to Vale do Lobo in one direction and towards Quinta do Lago and Ancão in the other. There are no hotels inside the neighbourhood and no nightlife, so it stays quiet even in August.

For everything else you are five minutes from Vale do Lobo — two championship golf courses, the tennis academy, the Praça restaurants — and five from Almancil, the Golden Triangle’s service town with supermarkets, the health centre, international schools nearby and some of the best restaurants in the Algarve. Quinta do Lago and its lake are ten minutes; Faro airport twenty by the A22.
